Reading on Colorado Public Television/Head Room Sessions
Behind the scenes at Colorado Public Television/Head Room Sessions
This fall, I was invited to perform a few pieces for Head Room Sessions, a live music series which has recently been syndicated by Colorado Public Television Station 12, our local PBS chapter here in Denver that prides itself on supporting local artists (such as myself!)
Head Room Sessions is headed by my very good friends Elle Naef & Matt Shaw, and is recorded in the gorgeous Recreative Art Gallery in the Santa Fe Arts District. This series has earned its chops as Westword’s Best Live Recorded Music Series in Denver in 2019, and only keeps growing. I’ve always been a big fan of Head Room Session’s mission to put the limelight on a diverse range of incredible Front Range artists who have so often been operating on the fray of the local scene.
I was lucky enough to be a featured poet included in the first syndicated season of Head Room Sessions, which aired on November 2nd, 2019. This particular episode was titled Embracing the Darkness, and featured spooky tunes by one of my favorite local bands ChurchFire, along with Lief Sjostrom, Poor Bodhi, and Joshua Trinidad, and of course some creepy readings by me.
Below is my performance of my flash fiction piece, “This is a story about setting fire to a graveyard,” and of my poem “Divining Rod,” which was published by the South Broadway Ghost Society earlier this year. Enjoy!
